Hundreds of people took to the streets yesterday evening, Tuesday, across Morocco to denounce the latest Israeli strikes on Gaza. Large demonstrations were held in cities such as Casablanca, Rabat, Fez and Tangier, condemning the recent Israeli attacks on Gaza, which have resulted in hundreds of casualties.
Protesters waved Palestinian flags and carried banners calling for an end to what they described as “genocide” or even “holocaust” in Gaza. They chanted slogans against normalization with Israel and in support of the Palestinian people. These demonstrations came amid a severe military escalation in the Palestinian territories.
After two months of relative calm in Gaza, Israel resumed airstrikes on Tuesday, launching some of the deadliest attacks since the war began on October 7, 2023. Tel Aviv claims that the resumption of military operations is “essential” to secure the release of hostages still held by Hamas.
On Wednesday, the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza released an updated death toll from the conflict with Israel, reporting an additional 970 fatalities in the past 48 hours following the latest Israeli strikes. The protests in Morocco continue to express outrage and condemnation of the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, with growing calls for an immediate end to the violence and the protection of civilians.
