Fire Erupts in Front of Beni Walid Center; Rapid Intervention Controls the Blaze

A fire broke out in front of the Beni Walid center, causing concern among residents who urgently called for quick intervention by civil protection teams to prevent severe material or human losses.

We warmly commend the citizens who actively showed solidarity alongside the intervention of gendarmerie officers, auxiliary forces, and local authorities who confronted the fire in its early moments using the simplest available tools to contain and limit its spread while awaiting the arrival of firefighting teams. We also appreciate the heroic role of the civil protection firefighters who arrived quickly and fully extinguished the flames.

However, there is a clear shortage of civil protection centers in the Taounate province, as response is limited to a single center in the city of Taounate, hampering swift action especially given the vast geographical area of the province. Therefore, there is an urgent need to advocate for establishing civil protection centers in at least every administrative district to ensure faster and more effective coverage.

Efforts should also focus on connecting forests with roads to allow easy access to their depths, facilitating immediate intervention by firefighting teams to help protect forested areas and reduce fire risks.

Collaboration among all stakeholders and citizens remains essential to mitigating the impact of disasters and enhancing security and safety in the province.
