This morning, Mr. Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Culture, Youth, and Communication, presented draft law No. 026.25 concerning the reorganization of the National Press Council before the Education, Cultural, and Social Affairs Committee in the House of Councillors, following its approval by both the Council of Government and the House of Representatives.
This draft law comes within a reform vision aimed at enhancing good governance and ensuring the independence and effectiveness of the National Press Council, enabling it to keep pace with the rapid transformations occurring in the media and communication sector. The law also seeks to strengthen the status of the national press as a fourth estate founded on professionalism, responsibility, and respect for ethics.
This legislative initiative represents an important milestone in advancing the role of the press in supporting Morocco’s democratic process and establishes the press as a free space for responsible and constructive public discourse.
