Marrakech’s Security Department has launched an investigation, on Friday, August 8, to determine the professional misconduct and functional breaches attributed to a police officer holding the rank of Security Lieutenant working in the city’s Traffic Unit.
The National Security services acted with great seriousness following the circulation of a recording on social media, showing the police officer allegedly attempting to collect a sum of money from a traffic violator, an amount inconsistent with what is stated in the official fixed fine report. This behavior raises suspicions of attempting to obtain the money as a bribe.
The police officer is currently undergoing an administrative inquiry to determine the circumstances and details of these alleged violations, with the aim of establishing the necessary disciplinary and judicial responsibilities.
In parallel with the investigation, the General Directorate of National Security issued a decision to temporarily suspend the police officer from duty, in accordance with the disciplinary provisions stipulated in the Basic Statute of National Security personnel.
