Human Resources Crisis Drives the Democratic Justice Union in Taounate to Escalatory Measures

Amidst the ongoing structural crisis affecting the Taounate First Instance Court, the local office of the Democratic Justice Union, affiliated with the Democratic Labor Federation, held its regular meeting on Monday, July 21, 2025. The meeting was dedicated to discussing several professional and social constraints that directly impact the normal functioning of the judicial facility and the general conditions of its staff.

According to a statement issued by the local office, the meeting concluded that the core and fundamental problem troubling the court is the severe shortage of human resources as well as administrative and technical staff. This shortage negatively affects the quality of services provided to users and increases psychological and professional pressure on the employees of the Court Clerks’ body.

The local office strongly condemned what it described as a policy of marginalization and indirect punishment practiced by the Ministry of Justice against the Taounate First Instance Court. It denounced what it considered the ministry’s systematic disregard of the employees’ fair and legitimate demands, particularly regarding strengthening the administrative team and distributing human resources in a just and equitable manner.

The office also criticized the irregularities in managing the appointments of new employees, who are assigned to courts that do not suffer from shortages, while courts like those in Taounate continue to experience structural deficits despite transfer requests from category B and C employees to other courts. This raises questions about the criteria used for distributing human resources within the ministry.

The statement emphasized that any talk of improving the court’s efficiency and productivity cannot come at the expense of the health and dignity of the Court Clerks’ staff. It stressed that the current working conditions are no longer sustainable and require a radical and courageous intervention by the supervising ministry.

Regarding infrastructure, the office called for a comprehensive renovation of the Taounate First Instance Court building, instead of what it described as endless patchwork solutions that have become ineffective. It also urged the provision of minimum social services for employees and staff in a manner befitting their status within the justice system.

The local office warned that continued neglect of these demands by the Ministry of Justice will lead to further tension among employees and increased unrest within the judicial institution in Taounate, which would directly affect the quality of public service.

Based on the above, the local office announced the organization of a protest action consisting of wearing red badges for one week starting Monday, August 4, 2025, expressing rejection of the current situation and affirming employees’ rights.

The statement concluded by calling on all activists to rally around their union, the Democratic Justice Union, and prepare to engage in all legitimate forms of struggle to defend the dignity of the Court Clerks’ body and ensure fair and safe working conditions.
