The National Union of Public Sector Employees Announces Withdrawal from Sectoral Committees and Calls for Escalated Protests

While awaiting a serious and responsible response from the Ministry of Economic Integration, Small Enterprises, Employment, and Competencies regarding pending issues—most notably the comprehensive review of the basic statute for labor inspection and the decree on travel compensation—the National Union of Public Sector Employees was surprised to find the dialogue stripped of its substance and reduced to a mere mechanism for wasting time and delaying action.

Faced with this situation, which contradicts the principles of serious and responsible dialogue and undermines the participatory approach adopted by the Union, the latter announced its immediate withdrawal from the sectoral committees, holding the overseeing ministry fully responsible for stalling the sectoral dialogue.

The Union condemned what it described as deliberate manipulation and delay by the ministry in fulfilling its commitments, announcing the launch of an escalation program that includes several protest measures, among them:

  • Two Protest Rallies: The first on July 18, 2025, in front of the Ministry of Economic Integration, Small Enterprises, Employment, and Competencies starting at 10:00 AM, and the second in front of the Ministry of Finance at 2:00 PM, in denunciation of the breach of commitments and the irresponsible policies of the ministry.
  • Protest Monitoring Visits: The Union will conduct ten monitoring visits in protest of the meager travel compensation, which does not reflect the efforts made or the associated costs.
  • Suspension of “Work K”: Starting this month, due to the ministry’s failure to respond to demands regarding the management of the mobile electronic system for labor inspection.
  • Suspension of Individual and Collective Work Permits: Starting from July 14, 2025, until the end of the current month, in solidarity with the demands of the sector’s workers.

The National Union of Public Sector Employees called on all activists to remain vigilant, steadfast, and committed to the spirit of struggle, with increased mobilization for active participation in this phase of the struggle to achieve fair and legitimate demands.
