According to local sources, a collective councillor in the Rutba community, located in the Taounate region, has announced a warning strike accompanied by a hunger strike, in protest against what she described as the “exclusion of a residential community” from local development programs.
According to the same sources, councillor Asmaa Moueilid decided to start this protest step starting today, to express her rejection of the non-inclusion of the Mekmel roundabout, which she represents in the village council, in development projects.
The sources added that this decision sparked wide reactions in the region, as local activists called on the competent authorities to intervene urgently and open an investigation into the circumstances of this unprecedented protest, while working to overcome what they described as the “exclusionary approach” suffered by the roundabout, as a result of the councillor’s position within the ranks of the opposition within the village council of the Rutba group.
According to available data, Mouilde had sent several previous communications to the local authorities on the subject, but did not receive any response, which prompted her to resort to the option of protesting through a hunger strike as a means of drawing attention to her demands.
