The Executive Office of the Democratic Labor Organization held its regular meeting on the occasion of the current social start under the theme: “For Combating Corruption, Criminalizing Illicit Enrichment, and Enhancing Social Justice, Transparency, and Accountability.”
The meeting began with a discussion on the latest developments in the Palestinian issue, where the office strongly condemned the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the unarmed Palestinian people amidst the international community’s silence.
The office also conducted a preliminary assessment of the government’s performance in the economic and social sectors, noting the continued reliance on neoliberal policies that focus on reducing the state’s role in favor of the private sector and deregulating prices in line with recommendations from international financial institutions.
The office emphasized that these policies have resulted in the absence of sustainable development plans that contribute to job creation, as well as directing investments towards projects that are neither economically nor socially beneficial, leading to the waste of public funds.
The Executive Office highlighted the noticeable failure of government programs such as “Forsa” and the self-employment program, which cost the state a significant budget without achieving the desired results, as unemployment and social inequality continue to rise.
Additionally, the office expressed concern over the unprecedented level of corruption, which costs the state billions of dirhams annually.
The office also voiced dissatisfaction with the lack of acknowledgment of failures in water and agricultural policies, which have not succeeded in meeting the food and water needs of Moroccans, exacerbating issues of poverty and unemployment.
In conclusion, the office called for the adoption of a new political and economic vision characterized by transparency and good governance, focusing on strengthening workers’ and employees’ rights, combating corruption, and ensuring social justice.
