Fez, October 6, 2024 – Civil Protection services in the city of Fez managed to control a fire that broke out in a residential building in the popular Ain Nokbi neighborhood on Sunday evening. The firefighting teams successfully rescued three children and evacuated four other individuals who suffered from smoke inhalation.
According to initial information, the fire broke out for reasons that are still unknown on the third floor of a residential building consisting of five floors plus a basement, located near the Youth Center in the aforementioned neighborhood.
Upon receiving the alert, firefighting teams from the Civil Protection rushed to the scene, where they managed to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to the other floors. They also succeeded in rescuing three children who were trapped inside the building.
Sources added that four people suffered from smoke inhalation and were quickly transported to the Ghassani Hospital in Fez to receive necessary treatment.
The area surrounding the incident witnessed a significant security alert, with security forces working to cordon off and secure the area. Representatives from local authorities were also present to closely monitor developments of the situation.
Informed sources reported that an investigation into the circumstances of the fire has been opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, with the aim of determining the causes of the fire and identifying responsibilities, if any.
