The National Rally of Liberals parliamentarian, Kamal Ben Khaled, raised the alarm about the difficult situation facing the olive sector in the country, during Monday’s session of the House of Representatives.
The parliamentarian pointed out that the sector is facing a serious issue as a result of scarcity and speculation that hinders its growth and negatively affects the situation of farmers and related manufacturing industries.
The parliamentarian explained that if the ministry does not intervene immediately and effectively, olive oil prices may reach unprecedented levels, as the price per liter is expected to reach 150 dirhams, which threatens to exacerbate the crisis in this vital sector.
The parliamentarian emphasized the need to take urgent measures to support farmers and protect the olive industry from the current deterioration, stressing the importance of rapid intervention to avoid further economic and social deterioration in rural areas.
