Reda Assal, Chairman of the Jinan al-Ward District Council, was officially arrested on charges of bribery and squandering public funds. Judicial sources confirmed that the intensive investigations resulted in the collection of strong evidence implicating Asal in cases of financial corruption and exploiting his position for illegal personal gain.
In addition, the case was referred to the investigating judge at the Fez Court of Appeal, where he will continue investigating Asal and a number of other officials involved in the same cases.
It is noteworthy that these measures come within the framework of a broad campaign to combat corruption and enhance transparency in the management of public affairs in Morocco.
