On Monday and Tuesday, 28 and 29 May 2024, Morocco’s Minister of Health and Social Protection, Professor Khaled Ait Taleb, held intensive bilateral talks with his counterparts from Italy, Canada, Libya, Iraq, Colombia, Gabon, Saudi Arabia and Qatar on the sidelines of the 77th session of the World Health Assembly (WHA) held in Geneva.
The talks centred on exchanging views on strengthening cooperation in the fields of pharmaceutical industry, medical innovation, reducing health risks, and improving the quality of health services through basic and continuous training of health personnel.
They also focused on strengthening cooperation in the field of scientific research and exchange of expertise in various health fields to achieve comprehensive health sovereignty at the international level.
They discussed the pioneering Moroccan experience in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, which was characterised by wise and proactive decision-making thanks to the proactive vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, enabling the Kingdom of Morocco to manage health risks effectively and quickly.
Thus, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Professor Khaled Ait Taleb met with the Italian Minister of Health, Professor Osario Scellacci, and Dr Luc Boileau, Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services of the Canadian province of Quebec.
He also held discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health of Libya, Dr Ramadan Abu Janah, the Minister of Health of Iraq, Dr Saleh Mahdi Al Hasnawi, and the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of Colombia, Dr Jaime Orrego.
The talks also included Gabon’s Minister of Health and Social Affairs, Adrien Mugogo, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Public Health, Dr Fahad Al Jalajel, and Qatar’s Minister of Public Health, Dr Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari.
These talks come within the framework of strengthening international cooperation and exchange of expertise to achieve the sustainable development goals in the health field and enhance the Kingdom of Morocco’s position on the global health agenda.
These efforts also reflect the importance of international cooperation and partnership in achieving tangible progress in the field of public health and serving citizens in the best possible way, in accordance with the High Royal Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him.
