Minister of Health and Social Protection holds talks with officials of the Indian Serum Institute
As part of the implementation of the High Royal Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, on strengthening the health sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco by encouraging the local production of vaccines and essential biological medicines in Morocco to achieve self-sufficiency, in particular the agreements signed on 5 July 2021 in Fez, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Professor Khaled Ait Taleb, received on Tuesday 21 May 2024 in Rabat, in the presence of the Director General of the Mohammed VI Investment Fund, Mr Mohamed Benchaaboun, a member of the Board of Directors of the Maroc Biotechnologies Company (Marbio), and Mr Yu, director of the pharmaceutical plant of the same company
These talks are part of the implementation of the royal directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI on strengthening the health sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco by encouraging the local production of vaccines and essential biological medicines in Morocco to achieve self-sufficiency, in particular the agreements signed on 5 July 2021 in Fez.
The event was an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in the vaccine and biopharmaceutical industry and examine the possibilities of partnership to transfer the pioneering experience of this specialised biotechnology institution to its partners in Morocco within the framework of the public-private partnership, as well as the basic principles of cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Indian Serum Institute, which will form the basis of a framework agreement between the two parties.
This public-private partnership is part of the policy of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection to strengthen the national pharmaceutical policy, with its various components related to the availability, accessibility, quality and safety of medicines, health products and vaccines, as well as an opportunity to exchange experiences, technologies and research in the field between the various parties. This partnership is part of the industrial development projects launched by the Kingdom of Morocco in line with the High Royal Directives that aim to strengthen Morocco as a continental leader in the pharmaceutical and vaccine industry and achieve pharmaceutical sovereignty as well as the sea
