The Tangier Security Directorate police forces managed yesterday, Tuesday, to arrest an individual suspected of involvement in a case related to tampering with digital data processing systems and phone call piracy.
Preliminary investigation data indicate the involvement of the suspect in infiltrating national telecommunications networks using criminal tactics, which involve using electronic devices to divert international phone calls to local ones, resulting in financial gains from the tariff difference between them.
The arrest and search operation conducted at the suspect’s residence resulted in the seizure of numerous tools used in committing these criminal acts, including a laptop computer, 82 wireless internet communication devices, 2077 phone SIM cards, 1758 SIM card holders, and a range of other electronic and IT devices.
The suspect has been subjected to judicial investigation under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor’s office, aiming to uncover all details and backgrounds related to this case and apprehend any other individuals involved in this criminal activity.
This security operation comes after the arrest of another individual last Sunday, who was caught engaging in similar activities targeting digital data processing systems, using a light vehicle loaded with equipment similar to those used in phone call piracy.
