His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, chaired, on Monday, in the Esstinia – Sahrij El Souani area of Meknes, the opening ceremony of the 16th session of the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco (SIAM), which is organized under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, from April 22 to 28. Under the slogan “Climate and Agriculture… for sustainable and resilient production systems.”
At the beginning of the opening ceremony of the 16th session of this exhibition, in which the Kingdom of Spain participates as a guest of honour, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan oversaw the handing over of three certificates of recognition for the distinctive signs of origin and quality to the heads of groups producing local, coded products during the 2023-2024 season.
Thus, the first certificate was received by Mr. Abdel Karim Bayad, President of the Federation of Almond Professionals in the East Region, for the geographical indication “Almonds Beni Yazanans” (East Region), while the second certificate was received by Mr. Mohamed El Hadi, President of the Ait Boukmaz Agricultural Producers Cooperative, for the graphic indication “Oued Apples”. Ait Boukmaz, in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region.
The third certificate was received by Mr. Abdel Salam Al-Hawadfi, Director of Le PETIT DOMAINE SARL, for the agricultural quality mark “Eggs from chickens raised outdoors.”

The coding system, which constitutes one of the basic axes of product development within the framework of the two agricultural strategies, the Green Morocco Plan and the New Generation, aims to enhance the quality of local products, enhance the skills of the local population, develop rural areas and improve the income of farmers, in addition to protecting local products from all forms of fraud, and encouraging Agriculture that preserves biodiversity and natural resources.
At the entrance to the exhibition, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan was greeted by Mr. Luis Planas, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Nutrition of the Kingdom of Spain, and figures representing the invited foreign countries (France, Romania, Czechia, Benin, Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, Eswatini, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sudan, and South Sudan), as well as Ms. Josefa Lionel Correa Sako, Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture at the African Union Commission.
Subsequently, His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, visited the various poles of the exhibition, and listened to explanations about the products displayed, especially the “regions” pole, before His Highness was taken for a souvenir photo with the heads of the regional councils.
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan also visited the “Water and Irrigation” and “Research and Innovation” corridors of the “Green Generation” pavilion of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, and the “Institutions”, “Area Products” and “Livestock Inputs” poles. , “Livestock Breeding,” “Digital Agriculture,” and “International Pole.”
At the “Food Industry” pole, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan followed a video showing aspects of the digitization of agriculture before His Highness headed to the “Agricultural Equipment” and “Mechanization” poles.
The International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco, held in the “Sahrij El Souani” square on an area of 12.4 hectares, with the participation of 70 countries and 1,500 exhibitors, with the organization of 40 seminars and round tables, promises a rich experience for professionals and the public.
The exhibition offers approximately 930,000 prospective visitors a package of new generation agricultural products and machinery capable of reviving agricultural and livestock production and strengthening the pivotal sectors of the regional economy, including the food industry.
The 2024 edition is characterized by the inclusion of a new pole, “Digital Agriculture,” which embodies the role of digital technologies in serving more effective and flexible agriculture, the important expansion witnessed by the “Local Products” pole, which enhances Moroccan agricultural diversity, and the adoption of the electronic ticket to improve access conditions.
Over the course of the sessions, the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco has succeeded in gaining the stake of being positioned as a pivotal event in Morocco in general and in the agricultural field in particular, which has given it a prominent African dimension, becoming an inevitable date for sector professionals on the continent.
Upon his arrival at the exhibition, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan reviewed a group of the Royal Guard that saluted, before greeting His Highness the Minister of Agriculture, Marine Fishing, Rural Development, Water and Forests, the Governor of the Fez-Meknes region, and the President of the Council of the Fez-Meknes region.
