Le Conseil de la région Fès-Meknès a approuvé, lors d’une session extraordinaire tenue mercredi à Fès, une convention de partenariat pour la réalisation du grand stade de Meknès, avec un budget global de près de 600 millions de dirhams. Ce projet s’inscrit dans le cadre du renforcement des infrastructures sportives régionales et de la préparation nationale à l’organisation de la Coupe du monde 2030.
La convention prévoit la participation de plusieurs acteurs au financement du projet, la Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football apportant 300 millions de dirhams, suivie par le ministère de l’Éducation nationale, de l’Enseignement préscolaire et des Sports avec 150 millions de dirhams, tandis que le Conseil de la région Fès-Meknès contribue à hauteur de 100 millions de dirhams. S’ajoutent les contributions du Conseil de la préfecture de Meknès et des communes de Meknès et El Mechouar.
Selon les données officielles, la Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football assumera la maîtrise d’ouvrage du projet, tandis que la mission de maîtrise d’ouvrage déléguée sera confiée à l’Agence Nationale des Équipements Publics, conformément aux conditions définies dans la convention relative à la réalisation et à la gestion de cette infrastructure sportive.
Le président du Conseil de la région Fès-Meknès, Abdelouahed El Ansari, a déclaré à l’Agence Maroc Presse (MAP) que ce projet constitue un ajout qualitatif aux infrastructures sportives de la région, particulièrement dans le cadre des préparatifs du Maroc pour accueillir la Coupe du monde 2030. Il a également souligné que la région Fès-Meknès est candidate pour accueillir plusieurs équipes participantes lors de cette compétition internationale.
Le grand stade de Meknès devrait renforcer l’offre sportive de la région, attirer davantage de manifestations sportives nationales et internationales, et soutenir la dynamique de développement que connaît la ville et la région dans leur ensemble.
La validation de ce projet s’inscrit dans le cadre d’un ensemble plus large de conventions de développement couvrant plusieurs secteurs, notamment la formation professionnelle, les infrastructures routières, la santé, l’environnement et l’artisanat, visant à renforcer l’attractivité et la compétitivité économique et sociale de la région Fès-Meknès.

The Council of the Fès-Meknès region approved, during an extraordinary session held Wednesday in Fès, a partnership agreement for the construction of the Meknès Grand Stadium, with a total budget of nearly 600 million dirhams. This project aims to strengthen the region’s sports infrastructure and support national preparations for hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The agreement stipulates the contribution of several parties to the project’s financing: the Royal Moroccan Football Federation will provide 300 million dirhams, followed by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education, and Sports with 150 million dirhams, while the Fès-Meknès Regional Council contributes 100 million dirhams. Additional contributions come from the Meknès Prefecture Council and the municipalities of Meknès and El Mechouar.
According to official data, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation will serve as the project owner, while the delegated project ownership will be assigned to the National Agency for Public Facilities, in accordance with the terms outlined in the partnership agreement for the construction and management of this sports facility.
Abdelouahed El Ansari, President of the Fès-Meknès Regional Council, told the Moroccan Press Agency (MAP) that this project represents a significant addition to the region’s sports infrastructure, especially in light of Morocco’s preparations to host the 2030 World Cup. He also highlighted that the Fès-Meknès region is a candidate to host several participating teams during the global competition.
The Meknès Grand Stadium is expected to enhance the region’s sports offerings, attract more national and international sporting events, and support the overall developmental momentum of the city and the region.
The approval of this project comes as part of a broader package of development agreements covering multiple sectors, including vocational training, road infrastructure, health, environment, and traditional crafts, aiming to boost the attractiveness and economic and social competitiveness of the Fès-Meknès region.
