From Meknes: Crédit Agricole du Maroc and Ministry of Agriculture Launch Major Program to Benefit 10,000 Rural Youth and Women

April 29, 2026 – Meknes

Meknes – On April 23, the city of Meknes hosted the signing of a partnership agreement between Crédit Agricole du Maroc and the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests aimed at strengthening financial inclusion in rural areas for the benefit of 10,000 beneficiaries. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the International Agriculture Show in Morocco.

According to a joint statement issued by both parties, the agreement concerns the implementation of a financial education program targeting beneficiaries of the “PADERMO” project in Morocco’s Oriental region. The initiative seeks to support rural development by equipping local populations with financial management tools and strengthening income-generating economic activities.

The statement explained that the program falls within the framework of Morocco’s national strategies, particularly the “Green Generation” strategy and rural and mountainous area development programs. It also reflects a shared commitment to promoting financial inclusion, supporting the economic empowerment of rural communities, and encouraging sustainable activities in rural areas.

The program aims to strengthen beneficiaries’ skills in financial management, including budgeting, saving, and the responsible use of loans and banking services. This will be achieved through the organization of 400 training sessions targeting residents of 19 territorial communes across the provinces of:

  • Oujda-Angad
  • Berkane
  • Driouch
  • Guercif

The program is also expected to place special emphasis on rural youth and women, as part of broader efforts to support groups most in need of economic and social assistance.

The statement further noted that this initiative adopts an integrated approach to rural development and also seeks to facilitate beneficiaries’ access to financial services while improving the sustainability of their economic activities, thereby contributing to better living conditions in rural communities.

Through this agreement, Crédit Agricole du Maroc reaffirmed its commitment to its role as a leading institution in supporting agricultural and rural development, while also strengthening non-financial support and promoting responsible and sustainable financial inclusion.

This agreement is part of a broader series of partnerships and initiatives launched during the 2026 edition of the International Agriculture Show in Morocco, which opened in Meknes on April 20 and concluded today, with wide international participation and discussions focused on food security, sustainable development, and Morocco’s agricultural transformation.
