Moulay Yacoub – Fes News
Available information indicates that construction and equipment works have begun on a new provincial hospital in the commune of Aïn Cheggag, in the Ras El Ma area of Moulay Yacoub Province. The project is part of a partnership involving the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Fès–Meknès Regional Council, and the provincial authorities, with the aim of strengthening healthcare provision and bringing services closer to citizens.
According to the same sources, the estimated cost of the project ranges between 250 and 400 million dirhams. This initiative is intended to improve the quality of medical services and reduce the growing pressure on hospital facilities in Fes, particularly in light of increasing demand for healthcare services.
The new facility is expected to serve more than 216,000 residents of the province and surrounding areas. It is designed with a capacity of between 120 and 150 beds, with the possibility of future expansion to meet rising needs.
The hospital will offer comprehensive medical services, including general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology, as well as intensive care. It will also feature specialized departments such as cardiology, nephrology, respiratory diseases, ENT, and ophthalmology.
In addition, the facility will be equipped with key units such as a mother-and-child department, a dialysis center, a medical analysis laboratory, an imaging center, as well as a blood bank and a pharmacy—enhancing local healthcare capacity and reducing the need for patients to travel to other cities.
Once completed, the project is expected to become a major healthcare hub at the provincial level, contributing to ongoing efforts to upgrade the healthcare system in the Fès–Meknès region and improve access to medical services.
