Local civil society groups and residents in several hamlets التابعة to the commune of Laâjajra in Moulay Yacoub Province have voiced dissatisfaction over what they described as the area’s “continued hardship,” citing the lack of electricity connections in certain spots and the poor condition of roads and tracks. They argued that these issues directly affect daily living conditions and access to basic services.
According to local sources, the absence of electricity worsens housing and settlement difficulties, impacts household activities and schooling, and hinders some agricultural and service-related initiatives. The same sources added that deteriorated roads and tracks—especially during rainy periods—increase transportation costs and make it harder to reach health and education facilities as well as markets.
Local actors said that a number of residents have previously filed complaints and petitions to the relevant authorities, calling for the area to be included in rural upgrading and de-isolation programs, and for faster interventions related to expanding the electricity network and repairing the most damaged road segments.
In the same context, these groups urged the adoption of a clear approach with defined timelines and regular communication explaining implementation stages and allocated budgets, stressing that improving infrastructure is an “essential condition” for supporting local development and reducing rural outmigration.
