The Ministry of Health and Social Protection categorically denied what was widely circulated about “a woman giving birth inside a tramway car” in Rabat, confirming that the incident did not occur in this manner, and that the fetus was deceased before delivery.
In an official clarification statement issued today, Saturday, the Ministry outlined the results of field investigations it conducted, stating:
- The administration of Moulay Abdellah Hospital in Salé did not register any entry by the woman in question, after reviewing reception records, checking surveillance camera footage, and interviewing private security personnel.
- The woman actually went into labor while riding the tramway in Rabat and experienced severe bleeding that required immediate intervention from civil protection services.
- She was transported directly to Souissi Maternity Hospital in Rabat, where the on-duty medical team conducted a rapid examination, provided necessary treatments, and medical monitoring.
- It was determined that the fetus was in a state of death before delivery.
- Initial information indicates that the woman has been suffering from psychological disorders for some time, and she is currently housed at Razi Hospital for Mental and Psychological Illnesses to receive appropriate treatment.
The Ministry expressed its deep regret for this painful incident, offering its heartfelt condolences to the woman’s family, confirming that it deals with such cases with the utmost responsibility and transparency, while committing to providing accurate information to the public and taking all measures to avoid any confusion or misinformation.
This official clarification comes after the widespread circulation of video clips and photos on social media, which sparked a wave of anger and questions about the quality of health services, before investigations revealed that the circulated narrative was inaccurate and misleading in fundamental aspects.
