Meknes – The Unity Forum of Meknes and Errachidia, under the supervision of the Bar Association of Meknes and Errachidia and the Academy of Strategic Thought, is organizing on Thursday, November 20, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM, a major intellectual and scientific symposium titled:
“Autonomy from Royal Initiative to International Legitimacy: Constants and Dimensions”
The headquarters of the Meknes Bar Association (next to the Court of Appeal) will host this meeting, which will bring together an elite group of university professors, researchers, legal and political experts specializing in the first national issue.
Main Objectives of the Symposium
- Highlight the path of the autonomy initiative from its presentation as a high royal vision in 2007 to its transformation into the most credible and serious proposal on the United Nations table.
- Analyze the legal, political, historical, and developmental dimensions of the Moroccan initiative.
- Showcase increasing international support for the Moroccan position (sovereignty recognitions, opening of consulates, successive Security Council resolutions).
- Strengthen civil and scientific advocacy in defense of territorial unity and Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara.
The organizing bodies confirmed that this event comes in the context of ongoing Moroccan diplomatic momentum, and aims to enrich public and academic debate on positive developments in the territorial unity file, while involving various civil actors and experts in strengthening national and international awareness of the historical and legal legitimacy of the Moroccan position.
This intellectual meeting represents an important milestone for renewing popular and elite rallying around national constants, and confirming that the autonomy initiative has today become the only internationally accepted framework for a final and peaceful resolution to the fabricated dispute.
