Beni Mellal: Police Officer and Inspector Arrested for Extortion and Bribery

The State Judicial Police Department in Beni Mellal launched a judicial investigation this Thursday, September 25, 2025, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, to determine the extent and level of involvement of two police officers—an officer and an inspector—in acts of extortion and accepting bribes to abstain from performing their official duties.

The two officers were arrested following a complaint filed by two citizens accusing them of extortion and demanding bribes. One of the officers was caught red-handed committing these criminal acts.

Both detained officers have been placed under judicial custody pending investigation, which aims to uncover all the circumstances and details surrounding this serious case. Meanwhile, the General Directorate of National Security has temporarily suspended the two suspects from work, in accordance with the regulations governing national security employees.

This revelation comes as part of the ongoing efforts to combat corruption and bribery within Morocco’s security institutions, sending a powerful message that no one is above the law. The case has shaken local public opinion and reaffirmed the security authorities’ commitment to uphold justice firmly and fairly.
