The Casablanca Security Directorate reacted quickly and seriously to a video circulating on social media on Wednesday, September 9, showing a five-year-old girl bearing signs of abuse and burns on various parts of her body, accompanied by an audio commentary alleging that she was abused by her mother.
Investigations conducted following the video’s circulation led to identifying the mother of the victim and another suspect, who share an illicit relationship, both aged 28 and 33. They were arrested in the “Al-Ulfa” neighborhood of Casablanca on suspicion of involvement in these criminal acts.
Simultaneously with the arrests, police applied the child protection protocol. The unit responsible for supporting minors who are victims of violence promptly referred the girl to a hospital to receive necessary medical care and to undergo psychological and social support.
The suspects were placed under judicial custody pending further investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor’s office to uncover all circumstances surrounding the case and to determine the true motives behind the filming of this video.
