Mohammed V Airport: Turkish National Wanted by German Authorities Arrested

Casablanca, Morocco – National security elements at Mohammed V International Airport successfully arrested a 43-year-old Turkish national who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by judicial authorities in Germany. The arrest took place last Friday, immediately upon his arrival in Morocco on a flight from Turkey.

According to a security source, a check of the suspect’s identity through the database of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) revealed that he was wanted internationally under a “Red Notice” issued by the German judicial authorities. He is suspected of involvement in a case related to cocaine trafficking.

The suspect was subjected to the necessary legal procedures related to extradition before being referred to the competent public prosecution office. Concurrently with these procedures, the German security authorities were notified of the arrest.

The same source stated that the suspect’s arrest comes within the framework of the Moroccan security services’ commitment to activating international security cooperation mechanisms, particularly in the pursuit and apprehension of individuals wanted internationally for transnational crimes.
