The Democratic Progressive Youth Movement – Fes Branch Calls for Urgent Intervention to Support Temporary Workers at Fes Municipality

The Democratic Progressive Youth Movement – Fes branch has sent an urgent appeal to the Governor of Fes Prefecture and Wali of Fes-Meknes Region, the President of Fes-Meknes Regional Council, and the President of Fes Municipal Council, calling for immediate action to address the ongoing plight of a group of temporary workers at Fes Municipality.

The movement expressed deep concern over the deteriorating financial and administrative conditions faced by these temporary workers, whose legitimate rights—especially the regularization of their administrative status and improvement of their working conditions—have been repeatedly ignored by the responsible authorities.

They highlighted the severe injustice faced by these workers who receive meager wages below the legal minimum wage, alongside a significant reduction in the number of permanent municipal employees, with no real political will to integrate temporary workers into the official administrative framework.

The movement condemned such treatment as non-institutional and a violation of fundamental human rights, particularly the right to a decent life and dignified work, as guaranteed by Article 6 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and Article 23 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Expressing full solidarity with the temporary workers in their protests and legitimate demands, the Democratic Progressive Youth Movement – Fes branch strongly denounced the silence of the responsible authorities and urged their urgent and immediate intervention to safeguard the dignity and administrative and social rights of these workers.

The movement concluded by affirming its expectation of a positive response from the concerned parties and extended its highest regards and respect.
