New Collapses in Moulay Yacoub’s “Red Zone” Raise Alarming Risk Concerns

On May 17, 2025, a new partial collapse was recorded in the so-called “Red Zone” of the Moulay Yacoub commune, where dozens of families reside in buildings that have been threatened with collapse for years.

This incident follows a series of warnings and studies confirming soil instability, notably a 2017 report by the LPEE laboratory that classified about 96 buildings as unfit for habitation, housing more than 224 families.

Data obtained by Fes News indicate that these buildings have become increasingly prone to collapse due to escalating dynamic ground movement, necessitating urgent intervention by the relevant authorities before it is too late.
