In a gesture expressing the gratitude of the people of Fès and their appreciation for the significant efforts of former Wali Mouaad Jamai, several merchants from the Hay Az-Zohour neighborhood and active civil associations from the Ben Debbab district have submitted an open petition to His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The petition requests a royal pardon for the dismissed Wali, considering his short tenure in Fès to be filled with noteworthy accomplishments.
The associations told Fès News that Mouaad Jamai succeeded in sparking a qualitative shift in territorial governance within a short time by launching unprecedented development initiatives and revitalizing long-stagnant projects. He was also praised for his constant engagement with citizens and direct involvement in solving daily problems, particularly in working-class neighborhoods.
These community representatives emphasized that the dismissed Wali demonstrated high competence in coordinating with various stakeholders and introduced a new management style based on close monitoring, serious accountability, and genuine attention to citizens’ concerns.
The digital petition addressed to His Majesty and signed by association leaders and merchants described Mouaad Jamai as a “patriotic and devoted public servant.” They stated that his dismissal was a shock to many local stakeholders who saw him as a model of efficient and honest administration, especially at a time when Fès is in urgent need of action-oriented leadership.
The petitioners also called on the King to consider the positive developmental trajectory the city experienced under Jamai’s leadership, adding that pardoning him would send a message of hope—not only to him but also to all upright public officials serving selflessly across the Kingdom.
