Indian authorities announced on Thursday that only one survivor has been found from the wreckage of the Indian Airlines plane that crashed in Ahmedabad, carrying 242 passengers on board.
Thick columns of black smoke rose above Ahmedabad airport following the crash, which occurred shortly after the plane took off from Ahmedabad airport, heading to London’s Gatwick Airport on Thursday morning.

However, a Gujarat state official confirmed to AFP that one survivor was found.
Dananajay Dwivedi from the Gujarat Health Department said, “Yes, the presence of one survivor has been confirmed.”
Among the victims was the former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, as announced by the Indian Minister of Civil Aviation in a statement to journalists.
