Strengthening Cooperation Between the Cultural and Media Sectors

This meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views and ideas between government officials, civil society, and young entrepreneurs on how to leverage the major upcoming events in Fez to enhance cultural and economic development and ensure the continuity of cultural activities in the city.

The minister emphasized that culture is not only a public service and a struggle for values but also a cultural industry that must be present and active in Fez. He stressed the importance of seizing available opportunities to support youth and entrepreneurs in the cultural sector.

Addressing Administrative and Technical Challenges

During the meeting, some challenges facing cultural projects were discussed, especially those related to platforms and the administrations responsible for granting permits. The minister highlighted the important role of the Cinematographic Center in facilitating procedures, such as obtaining necessary permits to use specific locations and coordinating work between producers and relevant administrations.

Attention was also given to a monographic project on the Phoenician and Roman history in the region, with attendees expressing interest in including it among the cultural projects supported by the ministry, while noting challenges related to classifying some projects as cultural or touristic.

Supporting Youth and Empowering Opportunities

As part of enhancing the role of youth, the minister pointed to successful initiatives like “Jaw Shabab” (Youth Atmosphere), which started in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region and has been expanded nationally. The goal is to provide continuous and evolving services to youth across various regions, including Fez-Meknes.

He stressed that the government prioritizes supporting the dreams and projects of young people, working to create significant economic and cultural momentum before and after 2030 to ensure that available opportunities are utilized and not missed.

Conclusion:
This meeting is part of a comprehensive strategy to develop the media and cultural sectors in Morocco, focusing on involving civil society and young entrepreneurs to achieve sustainable and balanced development that reflects the city’s cultural identity and supports the local economy.
