Aknoul – On June 5, 2025, Al-Ittihad Al-Riyadi football club of Aknoul issued a strongly worded statement condemning what it described as the “systematic neglect” by the Aknoul Municipal Council towards the team, despite the severe financial crisis it is facing.
The statement, numbered 1, revealed that the club’s management had hoped for a positive response from the municipal council through amending the partnership agreement and allocating urgent financial support to help cover the expenses of the second round of the championship, which amounted to 300,000 dirhams, in addition to accumulated debts nearing 60,000 dirhams.
The club expressed that the municipal council responded to this request with a policy of “indifference and silence,” considering it “a blatant insult to the team and its members” and “a blow to the reputation of the Aknoul Municipal Council.”
The statement confirmed that the team has not seen any signs of tangible support from the council, unlike other teams that had received aid. This prompted the union to highlight three key points of protest:
- The lack of serious interaction from the council with the club’s management’s request to amend the partnership agreement.
- The “rejected” statement attributed to the president of the municipal council, in which he expressed his intention to cancel the agreement.
- The fact that some council members benefited from support under “blatant manipulation,” which was considered a betrayal of trust.
The statement, bearing the signature and seal of the club’s management, called for the respect of the principle of equal opportunities in supporting clubs and urged against the misuse of public funding for narrow or electoral purposes.
