Oujda – Elements of the police in the Oujda Security Directorate, in close coordination with the services of the Directorate General for National Territory Surveillance (DGST), dismantled a criminal network involved in the trafficking of drugs, psychotropic substances, and forgery on the evening of Saturday, May 10th. The operation resulted in the seizure of a total of 6,918 hallucinogenic pills and the arrest of a couple suspected of their involvement in these criminal activities.
The suspects were apprehended while in the act of possessing and trafficking drugs aboard a light vehicle. Searches and inspections carried out inside the vehicle led to the seizure of 3,000 narcotic pills, including 2,000 ecstasy pills and 1,000 Rivotril prescription drug tablets.
Further investigation and searches of the arrested couple’s residence yielded an additional 3,918 narcotic pills, comprising 3,718 ecstasy pills and 200 prescription drug tablets. Authorities also confiscated 500 grams of ecstasy powder, 100 grams of cocaine, a quantity of abortion pills, and a sum of money suspected to be proceeds from these criminal activities.
The two suspects have been placed in police custody pending the ongoing judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor’s office. The aim of the investigation is to identify and apprehend any other individuals potentially involved in this criminal network and to uncover their possible links to other drug and psychotropic substance trafficking rings.
