Tangier Med Port: Joint Operation Foils Smuggling of 514 Kilograms of Cocaine

Tangier Med: A joint operation carried out by the National Security services and Customs officials working at the Tangier Med Port today, Tuesday, May 6th, successfully thwarted a significant international drug smuggling attempt, leading to the seizure of a total of 514 kilograms of cocaine.

This security operation was executed based on operational intelligence provided by the Customs services. This intelligence led to the inspection of three containers that had departed from a South American port and were en route to a port in Belgium, transiting through Tangier Med Port. During the inspection, the aforementioned cocaine shipment, weighing a total of 514 kilograms, was discovered concealed within a shipment of coal.

The task of investigating this case has been entrusted to the National Brigade of the Judicial Police, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor. The investigations aim to identify all individuals linked to the criminal network involved in attempting to smuggle these cocaine shipments, as well as to determine its regional and international connections and ramifications.
