Knocking and Silence… King Mohammed VI Welcomes Foreign Ministers of Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso at the Royal Palace in Rabat (Photos)

His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, received yesterday afternoon, Monday, at the Royal Palace in Rabat, the foreign ministers of the three countries that form the Sahel Alliance. The meeting reflects the deep historical ties and the strategic position of Morocco in its regional surroundings.

The following ministers arrived in the capital, Rabat: Mr. Karambiriou John Marie Traoré, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabé Abroad of the Republic of Burkina Faso; Mr. Abdullah Diop, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Mali; and Mr. Bakari Yawoo Sangaré, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Nigeriens Abroad in the Transitional Government of the Republic of Niger.

This royal meeting is part of the effort to strengthen cooperation and solidarity between Morocco and these brotherly African countries, which have deep-rooted brotherly relations with the Kingdom, characterized by sincere friendship, mutual respect, and a shared desire for development.

During the reception, the foreign ministers of the three countries expressed their gratitude to His Majesty the King for his continued attention to the Sahel region, and they praised the royal initiatives aimed at supporting the economic and social development of the region’s peoples.

Among these initiatives, the diplomats highlighted the Atlantic connection project launched by His Majesty the King to enable the Sahel countries to access the Atlantic Ocean. They considered this move a strategic leap to facilitate economic openness and achieve regional integration, reaffirming their full commitment to implementing it on the ground.

At the end of the meeting, the ministers presented His Majesty the King with a comprehensive report on the progress of the institutional and operational structure of the Sahel Alliance, which was established as a platform for coordination and integration between the three countries.
