As part of the celebrations for World Health Day, which takes place every year on April 7, the Regional Committee for Human Development in Moulay Yacoub Province launched a comprehensive awareness campaign running from April 7 to May 8, 2025, under the theme: “Let’s accelerate and complete prenatal visits, and preserve the health of mothers and children.” This initiative is organized in partnership with the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and various civil society associations.
The goal of this initiative is to raise awareness about the importance of regular prenatal check-ups and the prevention of complications associated with pregnancy and childbirth. The campaign will include a series of communication activities aimed at women of childbearing age, particularly pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as their families, across the province’s various communes.
On Thursday, April 17, 2025, a sensitization event was held at the Social Proximity Center in the urban district of Ras El Ma, within the Ain Cheff Commune. More than 50 women of different age groups benefited from the session, which focused on the importance of medical monitoring during pregnancy, the need for childbirth in health institutions under professional supervision, and awareness of proper nutrition before and after childbirth. The event also emphasized the promotion of breastfeeding and optimal dietary practices during early childhood.
The campaign further highlighted the critical importance of the first 1,000 days in a child’s life, which is a pivotal stage for their physical and mental development. This requires careful and ongoing medical attention to ensure proper and comprehensive growth.
This initiative is part of the implementation of the Human Development Program for Future Generations, and similar activities will continue to be organized in other social and health centers across the province, with the aim of fostering positive changes in health and social behaviors. These efforts are expected to improve maternal and child health indicators and reduce risks associated with pregnancy and childbirth.
