Fez: The investigating judge of the Second Chamber of the Court of First Instance in Fez decided this evening, Thursday, to place a local councillor in the “Bourkaiz” local prison, following suspicions of his involvement in fraud and swindling crimes targeting citizens who wished to emigrate abroad illegally.
According to available information, the councillor in question belongs to the Popular Movement party and holds membership in the rural communal council of “Ait Bourzouine,” affiliated with the Al Hajeb province. The public prosecutor has charged him with “fraud,” “insulting judicial police officers,” and “violence.”
Initial investigations indicate that the local councillor exploited the desire of citizens to emigrate, deceiving them with false promises of facilitating illegal immigration opportunities in exchange for significant sums of money. The total value of the funds he allegedly obtained from his victims amounts to approximately 65 million centimes.
The public prosecutor has ordered the opening of a thorough judicial investigation into this case, with the aim of uncovering all the circumstances and details surrounding it, and identifying any other potential individuals involved in this network. Investigations are currently underway under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to reveal all aspects of this case.
