Agadir: The Agadir Security Prefecture issued a statement of facts for public opinion today, Thursday, April 17th, in response to a statement released by a civil society organization containing allegations of mistreatment attributed to a police officer working at the Regional Police Station in Oulad Teima towards representatives of human rights organizations in the city.
In its statement, the Agadir Security Prefecture affirmed that after reviewing the records and data held by its services at the Oulad Teima Police Station, it became clear that the matter concerned the intervention of a police officer while performing his duties. The officer had secured the scene of a fatal traffic accident and removed onlookers to protect the privacy and dignity of the victim, and to enable the duty officer in charge of the investigation to carry out his professional duties in accordance with the law.
The Prefecture clarified that these protective and precautionary measures, mandated by law, were not accepted by one of the individuals present, who attempted to unlawfully access the scene of the incident claiming affiliation with a human rights organization. This action was inaccurately interpreted as mistreatment.
The Agadir Security Prefecture emphasized its keenness to clarify the facts and dispel any ambiguity surrounding this issue, stressing that the field procedures taken by the police officer were within the framework of the law and in accordance with the duty of good conduct towards all citizens, regardless of their affiliations.
