Local sources reported to Fes News Media that the President of the Taza Municipal Council, Mounir Chantir, recently oversaw the official launch of the rehabilitation works on Allal Al Fassi Street, as part of an ambitious project aimed at improving road infrastructure and enhancing the city’s urban appeal.
According to the same sources, the project involves the development of three main segments of the street, as follows:
- Segment 1: From Ourida roundabout to the Primary Urban Health Center (Level 1) in Beit Ghlam.
- Segment 2: From the same health center to Beit Ghlam Mosque, at the intersection with Sebta Street.
- Segment 3: From Beit Ghlam Mosque to the intersection with Mohamed V Avenue.
The same sources confirmed that the project will also include the construction of two new roundabouts—the first near the Beit Ghlam health center, and the second at the intersection of Allal Al Fassi Street with Jolan and Sebta Streets—in order to facilitate traffic flow and enhance road safety.
The total estimated budget for this project is around 20 million dirhams, according to the same sources, and it falls within an urban rehabilitation program overseen by the Taza Municipality. The project is part of a broader strategy to upgrade infrastructure and improve the quality of life for local residents.
While the local population places high hopes on these development initiatives to improve daily life in the city, legitimate questions are being raised about the actual implementation of these works, and the commitment of the concerned parties to timely execution and quality standards, especially in light of previous experiences that did not meet citizens’ expectations.
If carried out as planned, these works are expected to give a strong boost to the city’s economic activity, and help facilitate connections between neighborhoods and essential urban facilities.
