Taza Regional Directorate Organizes Awareness Meeting on Special Learning Disabilities: Early Detection and School Integration Strategy

Taza: The meeting hall of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports in Taza hosted, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, an important outreach and mobilization meeting centered around the topic of “Special Learning Disabilities: Early Detection and School Integration Strategy.”

The meeting was facilitated by the Regional Team in charge of Inclusive Education, which included Mr. Hicham Halim, Head of the Regional Department of Inclusive Education, Mr. Abdelhak Ayach, the Regional Inspector in charge of Inclusive Education, along with Ms. Mariam Aznak, a speech therapist, and Dr. Hasnaa Rtal Bennani, a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry.

The organization of this meeting comes within the framework of the ongoing efforts to implement the National Program for Inclusive Education and to strengthen the endeavors aimed at achieving the strategic objectives of the 2022-2026 Roadmap for the current academic year 2024-2025, particularly concerning the Structured Program No. 13 entitled “Network of Inclusive Schools.” The meeting primarily aims to improve the quantitative and qualitative indicators of this ambitious program.

In his opening speech, Mr. Mohamed El Ghouri, the Regional Director of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports in Taza, reviewed the general framework and context within which this important meeting falls, calling on all stakeholders to redouble their efforts to achieve the desired goals of the inclusive education program.

For their part, the members of the Regional Team presented a detailed overview of the program’s components and its implementation strategy, in addition to the mechanisms for achieving its objectives through the measures and procedures to be taken at various levels, emphasizing the importance of concerted efforts by all stakeholders to ensure the success of this national initiative.

Furthermore, the specialists delivered valuable presentations that shed light on special learning disabilities, methods of their early detection, and the optimal ways to deal with students suffering from these disabilities. They stressed the paramount importance of early detection and accurate diagnosis of these cases, given their crucial role in guiding pedagogical practices appropriate to the needs of these students.

The meeting witnessed a significant attendance that included Mr. Head of the Educational Affairs Department, Ms. Head of the Inclusive Education Office, Mr. Regional Coordinator of Program 13, in addition to members of the educational supervision and monitoring body across the three education levels, members of the Regional Committee for Inclusive Education, Ms. Head of the School Health Office, Ms. Head of the Preschool Education Office, Ms. Head of the partner association of parents and guardians of students with special educational needs and vocational training, and Ms. Head of the Procurement Office.

At the conclusion of the fruitful meeting, the specialists were honored with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their valuable efforts in raising awareness about the importance of detecting and addressing this type of hidden disabilities among students.
