On Sunday, the Royal Gendarmerie forces at the Akourai and El Hajeb centers managed to arrest a suspect known as “Weld Zahra,” who is believed to be involved in drug trafficking. The arrest took place after the suspect, in an agitated state, threatened public safety on the streets, prompting immediate intervention from the security forces.
According to a video shared with the newspaper, the suspect was acting aggressively while carrying a large, sharp-edged knife. He made several attempts to threaten one of the gendarmes, but the quick and courageous response of a gendarme on the scene led to the suspect’s apprehension. The arrest was described by local residents as “heroic.”
The operation, which attracted considerable attention from the public, was hailed for its high security alertness and excellent coordination among the various law enforcement units. Special praise was given to the commander of the El Hajeb Royal Gendarmerie, who supervised the operation, acknowledging the dedication and professionalism displayed by the gendarme officers in ensuring public safety.
The suspect has been placed under preliminary detention at the Akourai Royal Gendarmerie station, pending further investigations under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office in Meknes.
