Referral of a Rural Municipality President in Moulay Yacoub Province to Criminal Court for Public Fund Embezzlement

The Investigating Judge of the First Chamber at the Fez Court of Appeals has decided to refer the president of a rural municipality in Moulay Yacoub Province to the Primary Criminal Chamber for Financial Crimes, along with three other defendants. They face charges of embezzlement and misappropriation of public funds, forgery of private documents, and their use.

The defendants are scheduled to appear in court on April 22, 2025, following investigations by the General Inspectorate of Territorial Administration. The agency conducted an audit visit to the municipality’s headquarters, where it uncovered financial and administrative irregularities during the president’s term. A detailed report of the findings was forwarded to the judicial authorities.

This development is part of ongoing efforts to monitor financial and administrative mismanagement in local governance, in line with the state’s commitment to accountability and transparency in managing public funds.
