In a move aimed at accelerating the pace of work and avoiding delays in the city of Fez’s street development projects, “Fas for Development” has imposed strict conditions on the companies responsible for the project. This comes in preparation for Morocco’s hosting of some events of the 2030 World Cup.
According to a knowledgeable source within the company, a financial penalty of up to 1,000 dirhams will be imposed for every hour of delay in reopening roads to traffic after the completion of work. This step is intended to ensure smooth traffic flow and avoid negative impacts on citizens’ daily lives.
The companies in charge of the work are required to submit a detailed plan, including precise dates and timings for the start and completion of the work, in addition to obtaining the necessary permits from the relevant authorities. In the event of non-compliance with these conditions, “Fas for Development” reserves the right to take strict measures, which may include terminating contracts with non-compliant companies.
The source added that the primary goal of these measures is to protect the safety of citizens and ensure the continuation of normal life in the city during the construction period. These measures also aim to present the city of Fez in the best possible light to international visitors who will attend the 2030 World Cup events.
It is worth noting that the Fez street development project is part of a comprehensive plan to develop Morocco’s infrastructure in preparation for the global event. The project includes the rehabilitation of several main streets in the city according to the latest international standards.
