Rescue teams from the Civil Protection in Berkane managed to find the body of a girl yesterday, Thursday, after she was swept away by heavy rainfall into a sewage drain. This discovery followed hours of search efforts. The tragic incident occurred just before Iftar time near the Douar Jaber area, where the sewage drain swallowed the father and his 9-year-old daughter.
According to eyewitnesses, local residents were able to rescue the father, while the search for the missing girl continued. Local sources reported that she was swept away by the powerful water currents into a drain leading to the Oued Sharara, prompting the need for urgent intervention in the search operation.
The Civil Protection teams and local authorities used advanced excavation equipment to continue the search after they were unable to find the girl at the original site. These efforts eventually led to the discovery of the girl’s body, which had been carried into the drain.
It is worth mentioning that the city experienced heavy rainfall, which led to this heartbreaking incident, leaving its impact on the region.
