Morocco Commemorates International Childhood Cancer Day Under the Theme “Prevention is Safety, and Screening is Reassurance”

Coinciding with International Childhood Cancer Day, observed annually on February 15, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Morocco has launched an awareness campaign under the theme “Prevention is Safety, and Screening is Reassurance.” The initiative aims to highlight the importance of early detection and effective treatment of childhood cancer, a leading cause of child mortality worldwide.

Health experts emphasize that early detection of childhood cancer significantly increases the chances of successful treatment. Regular screenings and early identification of symptoms allow for timely medical intervention, improving recovery rates and reducing health complications.

As part of its commitment to combating childhood cancer, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection continues to implement national programs to enhance prevention and early diagnosis while ensuring access to necessary treatments for affected children. The ministry also focuses on improving healthcare accessibility and raising public awareness of the importance of routine medical check-ups.

The awareness campaign prominently features the yellow ribbon, an internationally recognized symbol of solidarity with children battling cancer. This symbol appears in promotional materials encouraging communities to support affected children and strengthen efforts to combat the disease.

Through its awareness message, the ministry urges families, civil society organizations, and all healthcare stakeholders to work together in creating a safer and healthier environment for children. The campaign stresses that prevention remains the best strategy for protecting future generations.
