After 8 Years of Waiting… Will the 17 Million Dirham Project End the Suffering of the People of Boulemane?

In a move that seems to mark a turning point in the healthcare sector in Boulemane Province, MP Rashid Hamouni has announced that the construction of a proximity hospital in Boulemane Center is set to begin, after more than eight years of waiting for the local population, hoping to improve their healthcare services.

In a press statement on Tuesday evening, Hamouni mentioned that the Minister of Health and Social Protection confirmed that the contractor in charge of the project had completed all necessary administrative procedures, signaling that work will start soon.

This news has been widely welcomed by the public, who expressed relief after years of anticipation.

Regarding the delay of the project, Hamouni attributed it to several factors, notably challenges related to land acquisition during the initial phase and the significant increase in the project’s cost, which has reached 17 million dirhams.

Despite these difficulties, the project’s importance in providing comprehensive healthcare services to the region’s residents remains crucial, reflecting the ongoing efforts to meet the population’s needs.

The proximity hospital will be built in the Tinebt area, within the urban boundary of Boulemane Municipality, specifically at the city’s entrance from the Keiko Municipality.

This area has long been in dire need of a health facility that could provide local residents with medical services and alleviate the burden of traveling to larger cities for treatment.

It’s worth mentioning that this project came after years of public demand and civil directives, as community activists from Boulemane and Marmoucha launched a petition three years ago calling for the establishment of a proximity hospital to improve healthcare services and reduce the pressure on existing health centers.

With the completion of this project, the dream of the people to have healthcare services closer to them is becoming a reality.

It will contribute to improving the overall health situation in the area and represents an important step toward sustainable development in the healthcare sector for regions far from major cities.
