In line with the royal directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, aimed at providing support and assistance to residents of regions affected by harsh winter conditions, a multidisciplinary health caravan was organized on Thursday, January 23, 2025, in the Aït Oukhlafen community of Sabet Jahjouh, in the El Hajeb province. This initiative is part of the “Raya” 2024-2025 program and the regional plan to mitigate the effects of extreme cold.
Supervised by the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in El Hajeb, in coordination with the province’s authorities, local government, and under the guidance of the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection in the Fes-Meknes region, the humanitarian effort mobilized significant human and logistical resources. This included specialized doctors, nurses, administrative staff, modern medical equipment, and a wide range of medicines.
A total of 1,322 individuals benefited from the caravan’s services, which covered various medical specialties and essential health services. Key results included: dental checkups (136 beneficiaries), pediatric and infant care (60 beneficiaries), general medical consultations (916 beneficiaries), early detection of cervical cancer (49 beneficiaries), breast cancer screenings (56 beneficiaries), laboratory analyses (42 cases), diabetes screenings (121 beneficiaries), HIV testing (36 cases), hepatitis C testing (10 cases), and syphilis testing (6 cases).
In addition to medical services, 320 individuals participated in health awareness campaigns focusing on measles and the importance of vaccination. The vaccination status of 50 children under 18 was verified, and 12 children were vaccinated against measles. All medicines were provided free of charge based on the prescriptions issued during the consultations.
This humanitarian and developmental initiative was warmly welcomed by the local community, who expressed their gratitude for the critical healthcare support. The health caravan underscores the commitment of all stakeholders to delivering medical care to residents of remote and vulnerable areas, reflecting the spirit of solidarity and humanity that defines national initiatives.
