Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy arrived Tuesday evening in Marrakech for a visit expected to last several days.
Upon his arrival, unusual activity was noticed in the Palm Grove area, where Sarkozy is staying. According to informed sources, the former president is staying at Jenan El Kebir, the residence reserved for guests of King Mohammed VI, although Sarkozy owns property in the Red City.
No official information has been released about the reasons for this visit, but it coincides with the anticipated visit of current French President Emmanuel Macron next week, during which he is expected to meet with the Moroccan monarch.
Sarkozy is a regular visitor to Morocco, particularly to Marrakech, where he frequently visits accompanied by his wife Carla Bruni.
