French magazine L’Équipe has revealed its best XI for the first half of the Ligue 1 season, featuring two Atlas Lions.
Following the conclusion of the first part of the 2024-2025 Ligue 1 season, L’Équipe has conducted its assessment. The French sports magazine based its selection on the weekly player ratings to compile the best team of the first half.
Unsurprisingly, two Moroccan players have made the cut. They are Paris Saint-Germain’s vice-captain, Achraf Hakimi, and AS Monaco’s rising star, Eliesse Ben Seghir. Both Moroccan internationals have distinguished themselves with remarkable statistics.
L’Équipe lavishes praise on Hakimi, describing him as a “defensive leader… who doesn’t spare his efforts and is generous in attack,” with an average rating of 6.07/10. The magazine marvels, “PSG’s right-back presents almost winger-like statistics: already 2 goals and 5 assists in 14 matches!”
As for Ben Seghir (6.14/10), he has had an excellent start to the season with Monaco and was even voted player of the month for November. At just 19 years old, the attacking midfielder has 5 goals and 3 assists to his name in 16 Ligue 1 matches.
Ben Seghir and Hakimi will face off on January 5, 2025, in the French Super Cup final, scheduled to take place in Qatar’s capital, Doha. In the last encounter between the two clubs, PSG emerged victorious (4-2), with Ben Seghir scoring his team’s second goal.
