The Moroccan national football team, known as the “Atlas Lions,” is preparing to play two important matches in November as part of the final two rounds of qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Despite Morocco’s automatic qualification as the host country, the team continues to participate strongly in the qualifiers.
The first match will be an away game against Gabon at the Omar Bongo Stadium in the capital, Libreville. The second match is likely to be held in Morocco, specifically in the city of Oujda.
Due to ongoing renovation and reconstruction work in the kingdom’s major stadiums in preparation for hosting the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the Morocco-Lesotho match is expected to be played at the Stade d’Honneur in Oujda. It’s worth noting that this stadium previously hosted Morocco’s two matches against the Central African Republic, which ended in resounding victories for Morocco (5-0 and 4-0).
The Moroccan team leads Group B in the qualifiers with 12 points, achieving a perfect record with four wins from four matches. Gabon follows in second place with 7 points, then the Central African Republic with 3 points, and finally Lesotho with one point.
Coach Walid Regragui and his team will aim to continue their successful qualifying campaign and maintain their perfect record, despite having already secured their place in the continental tournament. These matches are considered a valuable opportunity for the Moroccan team to test their abilities and gain more experience before hosting the major tournament on home soil next year.
