Attempt to Smuggle 26 Kilograms of “Chira” Foiled at Nador Port

Narcotics Control and Scanner Surveillance officers at Nador Port successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 26 kilograms of “Chira” destined for Europe on Tuesday.

According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security, the operation was carried out after the head of the Narcotics Control and Scanner Surveillance Unit at the Customs Department of Nador Port suspected a driver of a Citroën utility vehicle. A thorough inspection of the vehicle using an X-ray scanner revealed the carefully concealed drugs, preventing their smuggling to Almería, Spain.

The statement further noted that the seized quantity was weighed, and the vehicle underwent a detailed inspection before the suspect was handed over to the judicial police in Nador. Acting on instructions from the competent public prosecutor’s office, authorities are investigating the case to determine whether it is linked to an organized international drug trafficking network. The suspect has been placed under judicial custody pending further investigations.
