Raja and Royal Army battle for the Throne Cup title in Agadir amidst fears of riots

The Royal Moroccan Football Association (AMF) announced on Thursday the date and venue for the final match of the Throne Cup for the 2023-2022 sports season, where the Royal Army and Raja will meet next Monday at the Grand Stadium in Agadir.

The exact date and time of the match has yet to be determined by the university, which is expected to be done in coordination with the concerned parties in the coming days, in line with the protocols in place for these major events.

The Royal Army is seeking to win the title for the thirteenth time in its history in this competition, while Raja Sports hopes to lift the silver trophy for the ninth time, after booking a seat in the final with a 5-3 victory over Mouloudia Oujda in the semifinals.

The Royal Army managed to qualify for the final after a two-goal win over Morocco Al-Fassi in the match held last Sunday, while the final is taking place in a tense atmosphere after the riots that took place in the semi-final between Raja Al-Bidha and Mouloudia Oujda.

These acts caused the arrest of 17 people, including four minors, on suspicion of involvement in acts of violence and sports hooliganism, amid fears of a repeat of the events in the upcoming final match.
